Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards

The MOBO Awards are awards in "Music of Black Origin", established in 1996 by Kanya King and Andy Ruffell. It is held annually in the United Kingdom to recognise artists of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music.
In 2009, the awards ceremony was held in Glasgow for the first time. Until then, it had been held in London. In 2011, the ceremony returned to Scotland for a second time.
Kanya King launched the MOBO awards in 1996 aiming to establish a platform for music that, according to King, encompasses urban, hip hop, R&B and reggae. After failing to raise support for her plan, she raised funds by re-mortgaging her house.
1998
The award were held at The Royal Albert Hall and hosted by Mel B and Bill Bellamy. Performers and presenters included footballer Sol Campbell, girl band All Saints, DJ Trevor Nelson, boxers Lennox Lewis and Chris Eubank, Puff Daddy, Chaka Khan, Goldie, Another Level, and Martine McCutcheon. Contribution to Black Music went to Carl McIntosh and B.B.King won the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Stats courtesy of www.espnfc.com
The stats already clarifies any iota of doubt that may exist in the minds of the doubting thomases who seem to believe otherwise.
Even though it is believed that CAF of recent have favoured the Francophone African nations/players and BBC because it is British have always nominated and thus awarded English speaking players.
However, the winner of this year's award hails from a francophone African Nation is coincidentally the 5th pure Francophone player to follow the likes of el-hadji Diouf, Didier Drogba, Christopher Katongo, Patrick Mboma etc.
Aside from Nigeria who has won the BBC African Footballer of the Year Award 5 times and Ghana 4 times, the loads of other players who have won this award do not hail from Anglophone African Countries.
It is however clear and glaring that Yaya Toure was and is a worthy winner of this prestigious Award!!
We are all set and ready for the GLO-CAF Awards Night which holds on the 9th of January To see if Yaya will add another laurel to himself and follow the path of players who have won both Awards the same Year! Will Yaya Toure make it a double?? Watch out for the "Etihad Machinery" called "Yaya Toure"
